How to export assets with no formatting issues to number fields over 15 digits

In this article we will show you how to export your customer assets which will not impact your sim serial number or the IMEI numbers.

As the exporter will open in an excel format and due to the quantity of digits in sim serial number and IMEI number.

Excel won’t recognise this as a number in that format and will re format these columns on opening the document.

Step 1 – Downloading the assets.

Select the assets you wish to export, click on the export button

Please ensure that you are not opening the file at this point. Select save to downloads.

Note the name of the file also.

Step 2 – Opening the document without any formatting issues.

Open a new blank excel worksheet

Now select the ‘Data’ tab at the top

Now select ‘From Text’

This will open your import text file, please select downloads.

Now you will see all the recent files you have downloaded please select the file name which you took note of previously, and then click import.

You will need to select ‘Delimited’ then next

Please now select ‘Comma’ and then next

Now at the bottom of the screen you will see the column highlighted in ‘Black’ please scroll along until you see the column you wish the data to populate in for example ‘Sim’ and select ‘text’ as the option, then select finish.

You will now see an import data pop up, please select ok

This will now open your excel worksheet with all the correct formatting and Sim and IMEI numbers detailed.
