Managed Backup FAQ
Why opt for managed back up if Layer Systems already back up my data?
Our managed backup service is an optional service which allows users to back up and store system data to a managed AWS account with a retention period of up to three months. Backups can be scheduled on an hourly, daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.
In the event that data has been overwritten or deleted in error within The Layer, it is possible to retrieve time stamped backups and update your information as required.
If there has been a significant change to your data, our data team can provide advice and if required a quotation to help remedy the situation for you.
Why is it managed?
After agreeing which system data is required for backup, we will set up the service on your behalf. We will also help you locate the necessary back up file in the event that you need access to it and provide you with advice to help resolve any issues.
Convenience
In the event that you require a full export of your data, instead of having to export the relevant data from the respective areas of The Layer, you can simply access your latest back up file.
Peace of mind
By automating the process, you can be confident that your data is being backed up at regular intervals and is available when you need it. Using managed backup reduces the risk and stress of relying on an employee to ensure that your data has been exported from The Layer and saved locally.
The service enables you to store your data independently of The Layer’s servers and, as such, you have the peace of mind that your data is accessible no matter what.
Are there any data restrictions or other charges?
1Tb of data is included in your monthly charge and provides adequate storage. Anything over and above this value will be monitored and may result in additional charges. We will inform you of any increase in advance, however, provided data remains within the 1TB allowance, the initial set-up and ongoing monthly fee will remain as per the table below.
