Sales: What is an opportunity?

Opportunities are created within your customer or lead record and are used to identify any sales opportunities that are available with this lead or customer.

Is a lead the same as an Opportunity?

No, in The Layer a lead is a record that contains information about a potential customer. An opportunity is classed as a potential sale to either a lead or customer record.

If an opportunity results in a sale against a lead record this would result in the lead record converting into a customer record.

Within a customer record users can view opportunities within the Opportunities tab:
