How to Disable Data Roaming on Your Mobile Phone. 

Data roaming is one of the biggest causes of mobile bill shock. People are so accustomed to using their mobile for pretty much everything, they forget that all of these actions require data, and when abroad these packets of data quickly add up.  The easiest way to avoid excess charges is to turn off data roaming and mobile data, and rely on Wi-Fi for connectivity. Here is a quick guide on how to disable data roaming and mobile data on various devices.

Apple: Data Roaming

  • From the home screen tap Settings
  • Tap Mobile Data
  • Tap Mobile Data Options
  • Turn Data Roaming Off (toggle will be green when Data Roaming is On)

Apple: Mobile App Data

  • From the home screen tap Settings
  • Tap Mobile Data
  • Turn Mobile Data Off (toggle will be green when Mobile Data is On)

Android: Data Roaming

  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Mobile Networks
  • Turn off Data Roaming (toggle will be blue when Data Roaming is On)

Android: Mobile App Data

  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Mobile Networks
  • Turn off Data Roaming (toggle will be blue when Mobile Data is On)

Blackberry: Data Roaming

  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Network Connections
  • Tap Mobile Network
  • Tap Data Services when roaming dropdown
  • Turn off Data Roaming
